WE are back.....

and I have a ton of pictures to upload but it will take me awhile to go through them...

I did decide on my word for the upcoming year....INTEGRATE.....
I spent last year dreaming, planning and observing so now its time to take action!
I can't wait to see where this new word leads me....

If you haven't picked one word to focus on, I encourage you to do so.... it really works better than those silly resolutions I used to make, then break by June! lol

For more info see these links:

and the original master of one word.... Ali

trying to get....

in the spirit of the season..... been so busy lately and getting caught up in the "hype" so this weekend is all about slowing down and just enjoying...
I taught my class on Monday and it went very well, I was so proud of my cards and received lots of praise on them from the customers... I will share them here later...
Right now, I am sitting here drinking coffee with peppermint mocha creamer, watching The Polar Express with the kids and enjoying the lights.
WE packed a huge stuffed backpack from the girl scout troop and are donating it to the church to give to homeless on the streets in Providence... feels good to participate in things like that...

Today was spent stamping at Carols all morning (always fun and relaxing!) then I have begun swimming at the Y in Barrington with the special ed kids ... they do a fantastic swim program for them and even though Ryan isn't in the district for school, I still know most of the kids that are in that... and its so fun to see how much they have grown and how great they are at swimming... its nice for them to be in a place where everyone is truly the same and there is no struggle for them! I hope to teach Ryan to swim one day and this will be the beginning of great things...

I expect to receive my Ali Edwards Life Artist book any day now and cannot wait to sit and be inspired by it... I really need some inspiration right about now...
also reading Live Eat Pray.... such an awesome book, so inspiring and making me really evaluate what I want to do with my life and why, etc... sorry for getting all Oprah lol

I"m keeping my fingers crossed the next few days for some special scrappy related things... if you could please keep your fingers crossed for me too, I'd appreciate it...

Until later, peace... and hope you all get a moment to just sit and enjoy the season too!

I think I"m actually done

with holiday shopping.... never in my life have I been done by Dec 1st! wow, how exciting... don't want to make it a habit cause I actually like going out during dec and stopping into Starbucks for a Peppermint Latte.... but since we are leaving on the 18th to head to Arizona... it will make life less stressed this year to have one big thing to have crossed off my to do list!

Here are some recent projects I've been working on... all that shopping gives me no time to scrap so I look forward to being able to do that a bit more now!

Also, there are still some spots left for the Dec 3rd class that I'm teaching at Scrapbooking Plus More (10 am-12) $15... you can sign up at the store ...
we are gonna play with alcohol inks, embossing (both heat and dry), dye based vs pigment inks, paint daubers, etc... and make 6-8 cards...
please sign up... I will be raffling off a Rak during the class too... and think how exciting to have 8 holiday cards done!
we are providing all the stamps, inks, and paper for this... just show up and go home with some fun goodies!
kim-I"ll post the examples later on...

My November Cards box came with MMe pp goodies galore... and of course, my card!

any random Sunday....

is not this one!

First, let me just say how darn exciting it is to like sports and live in New England this year... these teams are just hot hot... as if I could love Tom Brady any more! ;)

Yesterday, I did some projects for ScrapDiner... they had a fun crop fest.. ( I posted a few of my creations yesterday)

Then I hopped on over to Bad Girlskits who are having their Christmas classes/crops all weekend... oh my are those gals talented...

I finished the cover of my holiday planner that I will be teaching at Scrapbooking PLus More in December... I m gonna have to make two because I really need one to plan out this crazy ness during the next few weeks! yikes... cannot believe how fast time goes....

speaking of which.... wanna see just how happy McDonalds makes kids??? Had a birthday party for Ryan who just turned 8... this was the first time he expressed interest in a party and by the looks of the sweet faces that were there.... everyone had fun!

Hope to get together with my neighbor Carol (thanks so much for Ryans shirts, by the way!) to do some stamping for holiday cards... I'm way behind this year so I am "cheating" by doing a card kit that I just have to assemble....

Random fact: Do not leave your back door open in winter... you might find a little grey mole crawling around your mud room.... YEP... Jon called me downstairs to report that little visitor was finding his way out but since they are half blind... we had to lure it to the middle of the room, shove a box down, run a piece of foam core under neath it and guide it over to the door... after the turantulas and bats I have encountered in Arizona... that little guy was nothing... lol

he was actually pretty cute... ( I can say that now that he is out where he belongs! lol)

pics from the birthday party...

peace

check the calendar in the next few weeks as she posts details... very simple to make and super fun!

I promised you....

some photos so this is what you'll get....

Halloween went great...
Even Ryan participated in both pumpkin picking, and cleaning.... as well as lasted the entire time trick or treating this year!!!!!!!
Its amazing how 8 years changes a boy....
speaking of which... his IEP went well... thanks for all who had asked me .... the school is so great, really know his personality, have full acceptance of him, yet really expect alot as well.... a perfect balance... I feel very blessed!
Erin was a knight and Ryan was Wyatt... aka Super Why... a new cartoon about reading that he is obsessed with on PBS... lol
It is really fun to watch him start to come out of his shell.... communicate more with us and just start to really enjoy the simple things that we all take for granted!
Be back later with a store update and some stamping projects.... what else does a sick girl do for two days??? lol
peace,

what an emotional week....

this has been...

First, My Aunt Lily (dad's eldest sister) passed away which is very hard to see my dad have to grieve again. I know its a part of life, but its never easy to watch those you love so sad and down. I truly believed that at 83 she had lived such a rich life, travelled the world, and touched so many people positively that I myself, have had a hard time grieving or feeling sad.
I chose not to attend the funeral service for many reasons. That was a difficult decision for me to make though and still trying to put my feelings in order about it all.

Second, Some great news... my sister in law Liz (Jons baby sis) is pregnant.... we got to visit with her as she came home this weekend to shop with her mom for maternity clothes, etc... so fun.. boy, I miss those mom and daughter days!
I gave her my "baby" tote, the one that had everything baby related that I packed up after the second miscarriage and wanted to just get it out of the house...
They were so cute in wanting me to go through it first, just in case and so I did, and wow....
did not expect the rush of emotions to come ... I was a little embarrsed and mad at myself... I truly did not want Liz to see me sad or cry... this is a happy time for her and I couldn't be more excited... just wasn't prepared for what hit me when I saw some old blankets , stuff my mom had made, etc... even some dresses from when I was a baby...
i know I should have wanted to keep it all but I just don't... at this point in time with both babies and my mother in heaven... I truly just want to move on and not hold on to the sentimental dresses, etc that my mother would have wanted me to have...
Not to mention that by the time ERin or ry would have any kids, those outfits would be pretty old, yellow, etc...
Maybe that is how I grieve, but holding on to them is just too painful and I'm ready to move on...

Thirdly, its that time of year again when the falling leaves make me so nervous of all that I have to do in the yard and THE IEP..... just saying it,gives me a ulcer...
It doesn't matter how great a program your kid is in, or how far they have come that year...
NO PARENT should have to go through them.... as positive as the school will make it... Jon and I still find ourselves leaving , crying the entire way home... (I always joke that this is why they ship our kids out of district so the parents have to time to grieve ont he way to / from the school...)
Its only natural to compare and look at the state standard (even for special education) and find that your son just doesn't even fall half way in the standard.... and I KNOW>>>> I shouldn't do that... you shouldn't think negatively and all that... well... walk in my shoes and tell me how NOT to think about all the things I would like to see him do or that I feel he should HAVE BEEN doing all this time...Going through an IEP only brings up the grief over and over again... and its very hard....
but the more I do , the more I am becoming a "don't mess with me or my kid" kinda mommy and I guess I 've learned to feel sad and then turn that into something to fight with... so in the end its all good... just painful

sorry for the long post... just feels good to let it out sometimes and let everyone know the reality of what I'm going through lately...

On a positive note... the air is super crisp.... we went to a spooky zoo sunday today with kids in costume... I think all of Rhode Island is there... lol but we had fun and I got some great pics...

I also had a successful girl scout Halloween party and the girls laughed hysterical... Its so fun watching this age (6&7) experiencing things like bobbing for apples for the first time... amazing to watch!

I have TONS of pictures to upload and promise I"ll get some stuff to look up very soon...
thanks for the ear...

in honor of my mom

this October... since its Breast Cancer Awareness Month and all.... I decided not to contribute again to a organization (even though funding is still needed!) or do another walk that tends to really depress me... I cry the entire time doing it... I decided I would honor her by doing what she used to nag me to do which was to take care of myself... and my health...
I joined Curves...
http://curves.com/
so proud of myself and very excited to get started on a positive, quick, no excuse type workout... and ready to change how I feel about myself, my body and my health...

Here's to you momma!
