RIP small claw

Erin's school science unit was studying cray fish. At the end of the unit during the Fall we were "lucky" enough :) to have won the lottery to take home a crayfish to have as a pet. He was a cute little fella though. Originally we put him in the large aquarium with Bubbles , her Japanese goldfish and that didn't go over too well. Usually they are scavengers and eat dead things, plants, cat food, anything really.. well, this guy thought Bubbles was more delicious. After a traumatizing care tank, lots of patience by mommy and some miracle, Bubbles survived and is now the ONLY one in the acquarium!! lol
Small Claw (the crayfish) earned his own habitat with plenty of rocks and dark hiding spaces. OF the entire class units, he was one of the 12 still living in March.... April 15, he went on to the fishbowl in the sky somewhere.
She actually adjusted well, I guess after you lose a fish and then your beloved dog within 6 months of each other, she is finally beginning to understand how precious our life is.
She came home from the library yesterday with a book called "How to care for your pet Ferret"
Lord  help me!  ;)

Peace,
Kim

The Color Room

using palette #2... so gorgeous!!!  Have you seen The Color Room yet?   It is a stunningly inspiring site...
The color palettes are amazing and unique and there is a sketch too.
Every one of my favorite designers seems to design for them so I was addicted and inspired at first sight.
The first layout is just a fun one.. I loved this color scheme so much and every year I always do a silly layout about someone or something "famous" that I am crushing on... listening too etc... so this handsome fella is the lucky subject for this layout! ;)
My second layout is for the leading man in MY life.. My husband Jon. Loved this quote and the color palette brought out the blue in his eyes... He doesn't like this picture because he was sunburned, scruffy and tired. I loved it because it reminds me just how hard he works for this family and how he does so much just to ensure our happiness. We are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary so HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my man!

The third color palette should be going up soon for all the scrappers out there.. .check it out!

Peace,
Kim

Bloom

using up some scraps of older kits and mixing it with some new techniques... a handmade collection of flowers, bunched as accents, a banner underneath the title... and some texture lace border freshened up this older paper collection and made it timeless!

My girl

I have been very cuddly lately and missing my sweet Getty to hold and love with. I dug into a stash of older pics and found some cute ones of my stinkers to scrapbook with.
I had fun misting up some tags and doilies and loved how the paper towel I misted on looked as well so I used it right in the layout for a fun textured background...

I am off to school we are starting to apply color theory to design... this is where it gets good ;)
Peace,
kimo

spring

has finally sprung here in New England! I can't be happier... we have 80 degree days and then a day following at 50 degrees for a high... LOVE New England's inconsistent weather!! rofl
I have a page of me as a teeny girl with my momma, daddy and brother way back when... I think this is circa 1974.
I just love these old pics.. I snagged a bunch out of those nasty magnetic albums last time I was at my dads and used some fun vintage stuff I had been hoarding.
I love this turquoise color too... so 70's!!!
Hope to be back this week... I just listened to the latest version of the Paperclipping web isode and loved it... inspired me to sit down and get the stories told.. sometimes I get so stuck in artistic pages and I thats when I need a kick to get back to getting the journaling down , adding pics and letting the product go after.. kwim?

If you guys love the industry, you should try and give them a listen.. many of the episodes are free (those are the ones I listen too) and they are easily done as a pod cast through i tunes.. easy peasy
You can find more information here at their website Paper Clipping Roundtable

off to run errands on this sunny MOnday morning...
Peace,
Kim

Autism Awareness Month

I don't spend alot of time talking about autism and how it has impacted our family. I try and stay positive upbeat and frankly, its more fun to talk and post about fun things like art and scrapbooking.
April is autism awareness month so I would like to take some time here to offer information, educate and advocate and speak up on behalf of so many of these special individuals who either have yet to find their voice or have trouble expressing their thoughts.
I thought each day I will try and provide an interesting link... which you can view at your pleasure... rather than here on my blog. That way I can still share some artsy stuff and still help spread the word.
Todays first piece of information is to support the Autism Society of America. One of the first national organizations to help inform us after the shocking diagnosis of Ryan's ASD 8 years ago.
They are a very worthy cause, assist many families and are open minded to a variety of treatments and train of thoughts out there currently.
Here is a blurb of how you can help:

Spread the word. Helping the autism community can be as easy as updating your Facebook or Twitter status! On April 1, the Autism Society is asking supporters to change their status on Facebook and/or Twitter to “Autism affects 1 in 110. Text “AUTISM” to 50555 to donate $10 to the Autism Society. Help spread the word: http://bit.ly/bUAVRf.” For the first time ever, supporters can now simply text “AUTISM” to 50555 to donate $10 to the Autism Society. 100% of your donations will go to support the Autism Society’s mission of improving the lives of all affected by autism.
Thanks so much and will be back tomorrow with more autism links, information as well as a few layouts or cards too!!
Peace

Kim
