Hello everyone. I am here today to share some watercolor techniques as a part of the Watercolor Bloghop hosted by Pretty Pink Posh.
One of my favorite watercolor techniques is creating luxurious backgrounds. Whether they are subtle or bold, water coloring works fabulous on backgrounds!
First, I stamped a fancy swirl image (Hero Arts) with Versamark ink. Sprinkled on some Liquid Platinum (Ranger) embossing powder and heat set with my gun. This creates a bit of resist and allows the flourish to stand out.
This card was created using pigments from Kuretake Zig Gansai watercolor set.
What I love about watercolor is that you can let a layer dry and go back on top to really make another layer.
Then I filled in the gaps with Distress Inks spritzed with water using the blending tool.
Here is a closer view. Using the different mediums of watercolor really gives depth and luminosity to the background but is easy to do!
Here is another card I created using the similar background watercolor technique using Copics... Yep... Copics and the blending solution to soften the hard edges... This method is more direct and playful but can achieve a similar effect!
You can check out more watercolor images, techniques and art over at the blog hop host page. Inspiration and chances to win prizes.
Hope to see you there!
